School History
La Union National High School – Sacyud Annex is the farthest public secondary school in the City of San Fernando (La Union). Located approximately thirty nine kilometers southeast of the city, it was born through the prayers and concerted efforts of the parents, teachers, and other stakeholders of Sacyud Elementary School whose primary aim was to lessen the burden of their incoming high school children who still need to travel kilometers away to attend to the nearest secondary school.
In 1999, La Union Division Schools Division Superintendent Atty. Armando M. Aquino approved the request of former City Mayor Mary Jane C. Ortega, former La Union National High School Principal IV Dr. Consolacion L. Aquino, and the concerned parents, to put up a secondary school in Barangay Sacyud. He approved the request provided that the school shall be established as Annex of La Union National High School.
The approval caused a great jubilation to the people of Sacyud and nearby barangays’ residents who find it hard to afford sending their children to study in a public secondary school in the city proper considering the distance to travel and the daily allowances.
In the advent of the K to 12 Program of the Department of Education in 2015, La Union National High School – Sacyud Annex was the only school in the Schools Division of San Fernando City (La Union) approved by the DepEd Central Office to offer Horticulture for the Senior High School considering the fact that most of its stakeholders are farmers.
To date, the school’s main catchment area includes Barangays Apaleng, Cabarsican, Pao Sur, Pao Norte, Pao Sur, Sibuan-Otong of the City of San Fernando and even extends to Barangays Bancagan, Baraoas Norte, and Gusing of the Municipality of Naguilian, La Union.
